The most depressing experience I have ever had with a freelancer. I selected them on the basis of their portfolio, their previous ratings and a clearly agreed scope of work. I did not expect to get Basil Fawlty as a project manager. Buyers are a necessary inconvenience that are to be spoken down to and poked with a cattle prod when they step out of line.In spite of agreeing in the PMs on site when pitching for the work of the need for custom coding, in spite of delivering upon my request up front samples of their previous coding work, in spite of writing in their official quote that custom coding would be required, I was told that as custom coding was not explicitly promised in the Project Agreement that I would not be getting it. This was after paying my non-refundable €2k deposit! In spite of using the escrow system, these deposits are non-refundable (what is the point??). The project manager decided that my requirements (detailed - 36 pages - and posted up front before any work was started or bid was accepted) were too difficult, that he made a mistake and should have quoted more money and that he would decide on the requirements himself. I ended up having to walk away with half a site I did not ask for (and cannot use) and 2 thousand out of pocket. Good luck On project Travel Directory Site
